Born in Beautiful British Columbia Canada, M.Doreen began writing
as a young girl, recording her daily activities and best-kept secrets
between the pages of her well-worn eight by eleven journal.
M.Doreen, the eldest of five children, is a daughter
of an accomplished playwright. She relied on her father's unique
and magnificent command of the English language, spending countless
hours practicing elocution often in the confines of the car, traveling
to and from drama festivals. Her father not only encouraged her
to express herself in theatrical performances, but was editor for
her short stories, articles and essays. Both M.Doreen's parents
support her as coach, mentors and confidants.
As a young adult, M.Doreen attended college and
later graduated as a Registered Nurse. M.Doreen became quite
adept at developing and writing technical manuals for instruction
in nursing care and medical management of patients with long-term
illnesses. Her passion for people and her empathy for the human
soul led her into the specialized field of palliative and hospice
care; the art and science of caring for the terminally ill and providing
emotional, physical and spiritual support to patients and families.
M.Doreen's dedication and zeal for her work led her to write newspaper
articles for awareness and fundraising activities.
Her career, philanthropic endeavors and love of
anthropology prompted travel to exotic places such as India, Tahiti,
Egypt and the Middle East. She immersed herself in these societies,
and discovered the diverse and multitudinous faucets of lifestyles,
customs and practices.
M.Doreen lived and worked in Saudi Arabia and
reveals her own experiences and authenticity of Saudi life in her
novel, Surreal in Saudi. Living behind the borders of a closed country
gave her first-hand knowledge of life in Arabia, one where religion
is the vein of existence and the political thrust of their culture.
Her tumultuous and often dangerous experiences afforded her the
opportunity to peek behind the shroud of mystery and expose it to
curious Westerners who are eager for a glimpse into this exotic
society.
M.Doreen currently resides in the US with her
husband and yellow lab, Amber. She feels privileged and grateful
to her husband who supports and encourages her to explore, develop
and deepen her passion for her creative craft. She is currently
working on the sequel to Surreal in Saudi; a novel filled with mystery,
adventure and more intriguing facts about life in Saudi.
